Williams Eye Works was established in 1995, and has since grown from a one man optical concession into an independent, full service optical center. Today, with 10 full time dedicated staff members, our professional staff of Opticians and Optometrist have the experience and support to meet all your optical needs.

To deliver an exceptional experience, Williams Eye Works relies on its staff. The diverse Williams Eye Works team has several multilingual members that can speak Spanish, Russian, Albanian and Polish. We house one of NYC’s largest collections of eyewear with over 10,000 products representing more than 200 brands. By utilizing the latest optical and office technology, our professional staff ensures your experience is exceptional.

Chris Williams | Owner & Founder

Chris is a proud 3rd generation Staten Islander. At only fourteen years old, Chris found himself working as the “cleaning kid” at Cohen’s Optical in the Staten Island Mall. After earning his New York State Optician’s License and years of experience, Chris opened the doors of Williams Eye Works to the public in May 1995. Throughout his life, Chris has been a committed Boy Scout Leader and Rotarian. He believe’s greatly in the value of having small businesses present to enrich a community.

Fun Fact:

Chris became a motorcycle enthusiast at the age of 50.

Ryan Williams | Optician

Ryan earned his optician’s license in 2016. As the oldest son of owner and founder Chris, Ryan began working at the store at a young age. His involvement at Williams Eye Works, and other local organizations such as Boy Scouts of America, fostered Ryan’s love for the community. At the age of 18, Ryan earned his Eagle Scout ranking. Today, Ryan still enjoys being involved in the community by participating in organizations like BNI.

Fun Fact:

Ryan has climbed Mount Kilimanjaro, the highest mountain in Africa.

John Williams | Shopman

John is the master shopman of Williams Eye Works. As the youngest son of owner and founder Chris Williams, John began working at the store at the age 12 when he asked for a job. He started as the “cleaning boy” in the afternoons, and has since grown to fill a number of diverse roles at Williams Eye Works.

Fun Fact:

John has a black belt in Taekwondo.

Lana | Managing Optician

Lana is a licensed Optician and Contact Lens Technician. She began her career as an optician at Cohen’s Fashion Optical and went on to work in a medical doctor’s office running a small optical dispensary. She has since become a key part of the Williams Eye Works team.

Joe Arroyo | Optician

Valerie is the middle child of Williams Eye Works founder Chris Williams. She is currently attending optometry school in Memphis, TN and works as the Website Coordinator and Social Media Manager.

“I really love being involved with Williams Eye Works, even from a distance while pursing my optometry degree. We are a locally owned family business that is very conscious about impact on our community. I believe Williams Eye Works makes the community around it stronger, and that’s something I’m very proud to be a part of.”

Merjeme | Optician
Myles | Optician

Myles has been an optician for thirteen years. He began as a lab technician at the age of sixteen, and has since become a licensed optician. Myles came to be a part of the Williams Eye Works family thanks to a recommendation from Dr. Zylinski, who he had previously worked with.

“I like being at Williams Eye Works because its like playing for a winning team.” – Myles
